About Katie’s Vegan Soil Concentrate
Katie's Vegan Soil is a specially formulated organic soil concentrate designed for growers who prefer to use plant-based nutrients without any animal-derived products. Traditional soil amendments often contain ingredients like bone meal, blood meal, and manures. However, Katie's Vegan Soil uses only plant-based ingredients, making it a suitable choice for vegan growers or those who want to avoid using animal byproducts.
Katie's Vegan Soil is high in plant and mineral based nutrients and has a slow-release formula while maintaining a gentle effect on plants, which means it is less likely to cause nutrient burn. It also contains nitrogen-fixing bacteria that can pull nitrogen from the air, further supporting plant growth.
Katie’s Vegan Soil Concentrate can be used as an amendment that goes into your initial potting soil mix using the Living Soil or Super Soil methods. It also can be used as a compost tea or a top dress. And finally it is an amazing probiotic and nutritional ingredients to make a powerful, yet gentle, home-made potting soil!
Quality organic ingredients such as Hemp Seed Hearts, Pumpkin Seed Meal, Neem Seed Meal, Coconut Water Powder, Alfalfa, Kelp and other organic nutrients and minerals. The soil is teeming with beneficial micro- organisms and fungi designed to help develop a healthy roots system as well as feed and protect your plants. These microorganisms form a symbiotic relationship with the roots to provide the roots with the nutrients they require in a form that is readily available to the roots.
Ways to use KATIE’S VEGAN soil CONCENTRATE
Use 3.2 ounces (by weight) per gallon of container. Example 5 gallon container would get 16 ounces (5x3.2=16)
Super Soil Technique:
1. Fill a container 1/3 full with the concentrate and potting soil and mix thoroughly.
2. Fill the remaining 2/3 of the container with base potting soil only
3. Plant and water from seed to harvest
Living Soil Technique:
1. Thoroughly mix 1 lb of Nature's Living Soil concentrate for every 5 gallons of organic potting soil to make a ready to use Living Soil
2. Make a small hole, about the size of a 16oz cup, and fill with organic potting soil.
3. Plant and water from seed to harvest
Top Feeding:
1. Sprinkle a thin layer of Nature's Living Soil concentrate on the top of the soil and water. Use about one tablespoon per plant on top of the soil once every few times you water.
Compost Tea:
Add 2 heaping tablespoons of concentrate and two tablespoon of un-sulfured black-strap molasses per gallon of water and let stand it for 2 to 8 hours, stirring occasionally. Adjust pH to 6.5 if needed.
Making your own potting soil:
Ingredients needed:
*Parts by volume
3 parts coir fiber
2 parts perlite
3 parts compost or earthworm castings (preferred)
Putting it together:
Mix the above ingredients then add 1.5 to 2.5 ounces of Nature’s Living Soil Concentrate per gallon of base mix (different amounts to customize strength). Mix the ingredients thoroughly. Water with a mix of 3 tablespoons molasses per gallon of water and let sit in a dark warm place for a few days before use
